I've posted a sticky post in "Forum Support" for resizing on Iphones and Android phones. There used to be an easy way to resize on Iphone when I posted instructions on the previous iteration of the forum but I guess they needed to change things for the sake of change. I posted the most recent instructions.

Forum Support / Resizing Images
Last post by JeffC - Dec 30, 2024, 04:39 PM
The limit on individual images is 1mb 5mb per post and 5 images per post uploaded as attachments Here are some suggestions for resizing images.

On current Iphones

QuoteIntroduction
Resizing images on the iPhone can be a bit of a mystery if you've never done it before. Luckily, whether you're aiming to fit a specific dimension for social media or just saving some storage space, it's actually quite straightforward. In this guide, we'll show you various methods to resize your images using different tools available on your iPhone.

Resizing an Image Using the Photos App
Did you know that you can resize an image directly using the iPhone's built-in Photos app? It's the simplest method and it doesn't require any additional downloads.

Open the Photos app and select the image you want to resize.
Tap on Edit at the top right corner.
Select the crop tool at the bottom.
Adjust the dimensions by dragging the corners.
After resizing, tap on "Done" to save your changes.
This method is quick and efficient for basic resizing tasks.

Resizing an Image Using the Shortcuts App
The Shortcuts app can be a powerful tool for more customized resizing options. Here's how:

Open the Shortcuts app.
Create a new shortcut.
Add the "Resize Image" action.
Set your dimensions.
Run the shortcut, and your image will be resized accordingly.

Resizing an Image Using Third-Party Apps
When you need more features, turning to third-party apps can be a game-changer. Apps like Instasize offer a user-friendly platform with more resizing capabilities.

Using Instasize to Resize Image
Instasize is a versatile app that not only resizes but also offers various editing tools.

Download and open Instasize from the App Store.
Import the image you want to resize.
Use the resize tool to set your desired dimensions.
Save or share the newly resized image directly from the app.
Instasize makes the process intuitive, and you get the added bonus of other great editing features.

Using Other Popular Apps
There are plenty of other apps available, such as Snapseed, Photoshop Express, and more. Each of these offers unique features and can also be used to resize your images efficiently.

On Android phones

QuoteBuilt-in Methods
Gallery App: Most Android devices come with a built-in Gallery app that allows you to resize images. Open the Gallery app, select the image, and tap the "Edit" button. Then, look for the "Resize" or "Aspect Ratio" option and adjust the size accordingly.

Google Photos: If you use Google Photos as your default photo app, you can resize images within the app. Open a photo, tap the three vertical dots, and select "Edit." Then, look for the "Resize" option and choose from various preset sizes or customize your own.

Quote from: JeffC on Dec 26, 2024, 09:41 PMFor Iphones image resizing is built into their picture app. For Android you can download from the store for free a few different image resizing apps. Max size 800kb per image and five images per post. That's the max size the software will allow.
I'm not so sure that all iPhones have the capability to reduce photo file size. My 2nd generation SE has the latest iOS (18.2) but I was unable to locate a file size reducer. A quick Google search stated that the iPhone built-in photo app DOESN'T have that feature but that it's possible to create one as  "Short Cut". I followed the process and it seemed very putsy (the author even acknowledged that and suggested using a 3rd party app for occasional resizing). The "Image Size" app was the one suggested. I do suppose that the newest iPhones could have that feature but I do imagine that a great many individuals have older iPhones (or worse yet, an Android phone  :o ). I've been using the Image Size app and find it to be OK for my occasional photo posting.
BTW, I'm glad to learn that the photo file size limitation has been increased to 1 MB. The 5 photo per post is certainly adequate for most of us. Thanks for making the change.
